Malana Village trekking trail is yet another popular route for trekking in Himachal Pradesh. Malana village is inhabited by the tribal people and is deemed to be one of the earlier democracies of the world.

This trek which terminates at Baralacha Pass through the Manali-Leh highway. The Malana tribes have their distinct laws, customs and language and also a governing body named Koram which is formed by the village elders. One can have a visit around the village but after securing proper permission from the village elders.

The Lahesh cave, which is at the base of Indrahar pass, is also an attraction during this treks in Himachal. Crossing some snow bridges one arrives at the Kuarsi valley. The trek ends in Chamba.

The Triund trek is rather an easy and short trek. Triund is at the foot of the Dhauladhar range. The trail follows the route taken by the shepherds of Kangra and Chamba. The trek trail also passes through Dharamkot. This trail also enchants you with its beautiful sceneries.

The path is well laid and you will not need a guide to get to the destination. Along the route you will be able to view the Hanuman ka Tibba peak, which is the highest point of the Dhauladhar range of the Himalayas. You may also come across mountain goats on your way! The terrain may not seem as lush as the other trails in Himachal trekking, but the greenery is more calm and soothing.

Hampta Pass Trek:

The Hampta pass trek begins from the lush green Kullu-Manali valley and ends in the rather barren Chandra valley of Lahaul. This is a moderately difficult treks in Himachal and does a not put too much physical strain on the trekkers. The trek passes through oak, walnut and alder forests hypnotizing your senses with the sheer beauty of the landscape.

The suitable time for trekking here is from May through October. The trail takes you the mountain base of Deo Tibba and Indrasan and you get an excellent view of their glaciers snaking down into the Lahaul valley.

The stark contrast between the two valleys is available to the naked eyes. While the Kullu valley abounds in flora and fauna, the Lahaul valley stands out in its barrenness. Along your path, you will come across pretty streams, glaciers and rivers, rare flowers and birds.

The experience in totality is rejuvenating and although at times it may seem arduous, the mountains reward you for your efforts with amazing views of the surroundings.
