ideaForge was founded in 2007 by a team of Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT Bombay) graduates. The team started their explorations in unmanned systems as early as 2004 when they independently discovered the quadrotor configuration. On the back of bootstrapping projects from the IIT Bombay’s Aerospace engineering department, ideaForge helped IIT Bombay win an international UAV competition in 2008. It subsequently created the then world’s smallest and lightest autopilot and India’s first autonomous micro UAV.

The company is the pioneer in Unmanned Aerial Systems segment in India, developing class-leading, indigenous UAVs for surveillance, reconnaissance, imagery and industrial applications. It was originally incubated in the technology business incubator, SINE at IIT, Bombay and subsequently incubated at CIIE at IIM, Ahmedabad.

It is a vertically integrated company which is equipped with in-house R&D, design, manufacturing, software, services and training operations. This provides the flexibility to customize products for an array of requirements. The company also provides end-to-end UAV solutions and services to the industrial and commercial sectors.

The company is continually innovating and experimenting to transform its aerial platforms, to offer greater performance, higher reliability and autonomy.

1.NETRAv2 VTOL UAV

A fully autonomous UAV

NETRAv2 is a fully autonomous, man-portable micro UAV developed in collaboration with DRDO. The UAV can be launched from confined spaces to cover a circle of 10km diameter over a height of 200m. Its zoom-in provision for identifying human activity up to 500m away has been an indispensable asset to surveillance, reconnaissance and rescue operations at numerous occasions. The UAV is equipped with fail safe modes like auto-land on low battery and return-to-home on communication failure, so that it can intelligently respond and adapt to unexpected glitches, if any.

Salient features of the UAV include image stabilization, autonomous target tracking and day-night cameras which are programmed to provide real-time footage in daytime as well as pitch dark conditions.

NETRAv2 is indigenous, robust, and ready to be deployed for military, civil and industrial applications.

2.SKYBOX – Fixed Wing UAV

SKYBOX is a fully-autonomous fixed wing UAV which is designed and developed to assemble, disassemble and operate under various field conditions with ease. It is fitted with retractable day and night payloads for real-time video footage, along with features like altitude sensors, inertial measurement unit, fail safe modes and self-checks before flights. The fixed-wing UAV is designed while taking efficient aerodynamics principles into consideration, ensuring that it flies for longer periods at higher speeds, while remaining in constant motion.
