World Travel Awards for five consecutive years from 2012 to 2016. The Maharajas’ Express has
redefined the luxury travel experience by offering guests the opportunity to explore fabled destinations

The Maharajas’ Express is owned and operated by Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation.
The luxury train service was started in March 2010. It runs on 5 circuits covering more than 12
destinations across North-West and Central India, mainly centered on Rajasthan between the months of
October and April.

It is the most expensive luxury train in the World.


There are four categories of cabins/Suites in this Luxury train. The Cabins on the Maharajas’ Express are
the most Lavish among all the International Luxury Tourist Trains. The Lavish Interiors, distinct theme
supplemented by the latest International safety features such as Electronic smoke detection system,
CCTV, Pneumatic suspension for superior ride comfort will ensure your Luxury rail journey a truly
comfortable experience you ever had.

The state of the art facilities in all the cabins of the train includes Live Television, Wi-fi internet, Direct
Dial International Telephone Facility, DVD player, LCD screen, wardrobe, Personal safe and air
conditioning and en-suite bathroom facilities such as shower cubicle with running hot & cold water, W.C
and basin. To make your stay Lavish and relaxed, we provide amenities such as bathrobe, slippers,
hairdryer, range of Luxury toiletries made of essential oils.

The train coaches of Deluxe Cabin are named after the precious gems Hakik(Agate), Firoza(Torquoise),
Katela(Amethyst), Beruz(Aquamarine) & Pitoniya(Bloodstone) to indicate the lavishness present in the
overall experience provided in the tour Packages of Maharajas’ Express. The train has 20 Deluxe Cabins
of which 12 are twin bedded and 8 double can choose a Deluxe Cabin,Junior Suite,Suite or Presidential Suite according to your budget.


On-Board the luxurious Maharajas’ Express, you will find two thematic fine dining restaurants which will
allow you to enjoy delicious meals in a vibrant yet soul soothing environment. The names of the
restaurants are aptly suited to the tastefully crafted design, ambience and concept.

One of it is “Mayur Mahal”, named after India’s very own graceful national bird peacock, fondly called as
Mayur and the other is “Rang Mahal”, which literally means ‘The Palace of Colors’ decorated with hand
painted fresco ceiling. The two fine dining restaurants can comfortably accommodate 42 guests each at
any given time. The setup on one hand allows a seating of two persons who prefer to relish meal over a
private chat and on the other hand also provides with a seating of four persons for guests who believe in
socializing over a hearty conversation while enjoying the meals.

Lounge & Bar Cars

For the guests who like to enjoy drinks over a friendly chat, we have two bars. One of it is a Lounge bar-
‘The Rajah Club’ and the other is a thematic bar named as – ‘Safari Bar’. Both the bars provide
comfortable & relaxed sitting arrangements to complement the exquisite range of wines & spirits,
allowing you to unwind and lighten up. For those who wish to be left alone, we provide selective
collection of books and for those who love to socialize, we do have few board games to play and have
fun with.

For the corporate travelers, who want to combine business and leisure onboard the Maharajas’ express,
can organize a suitable setup for meetings at the Safari Bar. This bar also serves as a venue for festive

The Journey

With world’s leading luxury train, Maharajas’ Express, you can embark on an unforgettable escapade that
starts off with the capital city of Delhi. Guests journey their way through iridescent lands of Jaipur to
reach the vivid greens of Ranthambore. Then take royal guests to the ancient capital city of Mughals,
Fatehpur Sikri and then to Agra where they can witness the immortal sheen of the Taj Mahal. They soak
in the regality of Gwalior and discover the sensuous moods of the temples of Khajuraho. Finally reach
the sacred city of Varanasi, and observe the divine beauty of River Ganges and lastly savor the elegance
and imperial splendour of Lucknow.

DAY 01 – Delhi

Guests get to enjoy a traditional welcome and greet the luxury in a grand style at Delhi Safdarjung
Railway Station.

Treat your appetite with a lavish dinner on-board.

Guests spend their night on the Maharajas’ Express that leaves for the first destination in its Indian
Luxury odyssey, Jaipur.

DAY 02 – Jaipur

Wake up to a delicious on-board Breakfast as you arrive at the Pink City, Jaipur.

To take a closer look at the history of Jaipur, guests visit the ancient Amber Fort which is known for its
artistic Hindu style elements.

Maharajas’ Express is a leader in cultural tourism and we ensure that our guests don’t miss the cultural
essence of our country. After visiting Amber fort guests proceed to City Palace/Jai Mahal Palace for
exclusive Elephant activities where guests may choose to decorate them with bright hues, feed them or
take the regal ride. This is followed by lunch.

Afterwards guests return to the palatial comforts of Maharajas’ Express or may also choose to participate
in the optional activities that are provided in Indian culture tours. Guests can choose from.

Guests can then return to the stately comforts of Maharajas’ Express.

DAY 04 – Agra – Gwalior

Guests Arrive in Agra and continue their Indian luxury odyssey with visit to the monumental symbol of
love, the Taj Mahal.

Guests can enjoy a princely Champagne Breakfast atop Taj Khema and later return to the comforts of
Maharajas’ Express.

Maharajas’ Express then proceeds for Gwalior, a new destination in our mesmerizing Indian culture

Guests can enjoy an on-board lunch and then proceed to visit to Gwalior Fort, Saas Bahu Temple and
Jain Cave Sculptures or they can also choose to avail spa facilities at Usha Kiran Palace Hotel.

Guests can visit the Jai Vilas Palace Museum followed by Hi Tea in the compound of the palace.

Guests later return to the palatial comforts of Maharajas’ Express. Guests spend their night on board
amidst comfort and luxury as the train is stationed overnight at Gwalior. Early morning the train leaves for Khajuraho to visit the magnificent temples of Madhya Pradesh.

DAY 05 – Khajuraho

Enjoy delicious on-board breakfast and lunch at our thematic restaurants- Rang Mahal and Mayur Mahal.

Arrive in Khajuraho and proceed to visit the Khajuraho temples (Western Group Of Temples), the
beginning of spiritual escapade in our Indian luxury odyssey.

In Varanasi guests visit the Silk Weaving Center followed by a sumptuous lunch at Taj Gateway Hotel.

Afterwards guests visit Sarnath ruins and museum.Then guests enjoy a boat ride at the holy river
Ganges to witness evening prayer.

Guests then return to the comforts of the Maharajas’ Express and have dinner on-board.

The Maharajas’ Express leaves for the city of royal splendor and relishing delicacies, Lucknow.Guests
spend their night comfortable on the opulent Maharajas’ Express.

DAY 07 – Lucknow

Guests start their day with an on-board breakfast.

Guests proceed to visit Bara Imambara, Chota Imambara, Rumi Darwaza and The Residency followed
by delicious Awadhi lunch along with the live Kathak Dance performance at Vivanta by taj. Guests later return to the comforts of Maharajas’ Express and enjoy an “Indian Evening” followed by
dinner on-board.

Then Maharajas’ Express leaves for Delhi, marking the end of it’s Indian culture tour.

DAY 08 – Delhi

Guests begin their day with an on-board breakfast.
