When you think of motorbikes, it’s easy to think of grease-smeared overalls, gas-guzzling hogs and
seriously noisy exhausts. But all that is changing. There’s a new breed of electric motorbikes that rule the
road while also helping Mother Earth.
Meet Tork Motorcycles- Makers of India’s first electric performance motorcycle.
Tork Motorcycles was founded in 2009, by a group of young graduates who dreamt to work on a zero
emissions vehicle that could perform on par with petrol machines.
Kapil Shelke (Founder & CEO) helmed a team who successfully crafted their first electric motorcycle and
raced it against the best in the world at the prestigious IOM event. TORK Motorcycles was established
with a clear vision of designing and developing performance electric motorcycles. In the past decade,
Tork has indigenously developed multiple electric motorcycles that have powered racers to podium
finishes at the IOM TT and TTXGP,UK.
Driven by such strong credentials and proven expertise, Tork is now poised to break into the Indian
Urban Commuter segment, with an offering that is unmatched – both in performance and economy.
TORK is committed to disrupting electric mobility and set standards for innovative and technologically
advanced, eco-friendly mobility at affordable prices.
The tork t6x is India’s first electric performence motorcycle.
Tork T6X comes from an 6 kW (8 bhp) electric motor paired to an automatic transmission. The bike gets
telescopic front forks and a monoshock suspension setup at the rear, while braking power comes from
discs at the front and rear.
The bike boasts of a range of 100 km on a single charge courtesy of the lithium-ion batteries, the only
component that has been imported on the bike and can be charged via a 15 Amp socket with 80 per cent
charge available in one hour.
There is the al-digital instrument cluster on the Tork T6X that will be showcasing a host of details
including an in-built GPS system. What also makes the T6X interesting is the company’s TIROS (Tork
Intuitive Response System). Given the novelty surrounding the bike, the TIROS system allows the company to keep a tab on the bike and all its service necessities remotely. Essentially, a cloud system, TIROS can be updated over the air and will can add more features to the bike as and when the system is updated.
With easiliy customisable ride modes to adjust power delivery, the mototrcycle can be tuned anywhere for
sport to eco-cruiser at the touch of a button.
Now being the only one-of-its-kind in India and has been priced at 1,24,999.
The motorcycle also falls under the central government’s FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of
Hybrid and Electric Vehicles) initiative and is eligible for subsidies.
Eco Benefits of Electric Motorbikes
Because their fuel is electricity rather than gasoline, electric motorbikes use no oil or gasoline and emit
none of the exhaust fumes that cause air pollution and smog.
